After a couple of weeks of searching on the internet, I have come to the conclusion that, it is a Dog-Eat-Dog world, on our wonderful web. There are so many marketers, bloggers, entreprenuers, and more, that I am not sure which is the best direction to take from here. I don’t trust anyone with so many scams going on and will not let myself fall prey to them. I have made some good contacts on social networks and they are great to give advice and tips.
I was told by one of my new good contacts, that I should take it slow and that I would find my niche in time. I have found my niche in the pet rescue mission, where I have been fostering rescues for the last 10 years. I started a website to showcase my rescue mission, but it needs a lot of work. I have spent hours designing the site and looking for good content. The site’s content is great and getting better each day, but the site does not look good enough to suit me, because I am NOT a professional website designer. Because I am unemployed, I can’t justify spending money for someone else to design it for me, so I choose to find the answers on my own.
It is a slow go, but I have a can do attitude and will not give up. I will continue to work on the website until it looks great and while working on the site, I will keep learning how to blog. I have confidence that it will all work out in the end.
I am launching a website for our dog and cat rescue mission. I’m a new internet enthusiast and blogger. Someone told me that I should become involved with, and blog about, something that I am passionate about. That is why my first website and this blog are about my animal rescue mission.
I have loved dogs all my life, but have only been in love with cats for the last 18 years. I live in the country with my husband and soulmate of 18 years. Together we have 6 dogs and 10 cats, most of them rescues. People abandon their pregnant cats near us quite often. Maybe they are just hoping that we’ll take them in, or perhaps they heard that our heart goes out to orphaned animals and especially kittens.
If you visit My DogPatch, I hope you find the content on the site to be useful and entertaining, and remember that the site is a work in progress. I like sharing good links and important health and safety information, so new content and links will be added continually.
Our website was inspired by my puppy Buckwheat, a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix. If you are familiar with Pyrenees, you know why we are partial to them. Regardless, you are sure to enjoy the Feature Story at My DogPatch about Buckwheat’s dad Buckshot, a Great Pyrenees that returned home after being gone for 8 months.
I always have heartwarming stories to write about and cute photos to share, so there shouldn’t be a shortage of blogging for me in the animal rescue department. I just hope that I understand the concept enough to do it right and eventually, maybe becoming a published author.
When I accidentally fell upon WordPress, I was at a turning point in my life and subsequently I decided to use it. I did my actual first blogs on myspace.com and bigsight.org after I got internet access at home. I joined Facebook and MySpace to connect to my family. Those blogs are brief descriptions of who I am and they were done for the sole purpose of my family networking. That is why I call this my real official first blog. There will be a more specific description of who I am, as soon as I find out.
My goal here is to try my hand at writing, or should I say, blogging. I am new to the concept, even though I have been composing most of my life. I used to say that when I retired, I wanted to take a cruise and write a book about things that had happened in my life. I could write 3 books about my life right now and I am still a decade away from retirement. When I became unemployed, I decided to start writing now, before I retire. Now I will attempt to become a published author, or should I say, blogger. We’ll see how it goes. You never know.
